Sunset kayak tour out of Tahoe City with our tour guide's Luke and Greg was AWESOME - this definitely is a MUST of things to do in Lake Tahoe!!

Our arrival was late due to the parking in Tahoe City being a bit tricky but once we were able to navigate around by popping in the store-front and asking the helpful staff (inside secret - park behind Fat Cat Bar & Grill on the corner of Grove Street - FREE PARKING directly behind) we made our way down to the dock and arrived in the nick of time being the very last to arrive - PHEW!! We put on our life vest, grabbed our paddle, and dry bags being sure to let Guide Greg know that yeppers we are the late folks that got no instructions yet so please, please could you go back over the basics since it's been high school since I have floated on water with a paddle/oar in my hand. Since there were other people in the tour that were not part of us, we would like to be sure that we were not rocking the boat (yes pun intended). So quick safety go over and ground rules and we are placed in our kayaks and off to join the group.

We set off heading towards Common's Beach and stopped as our tour guide Luke began telling us history of the beach from days gone by and up to all the GREAT local events to live music concerts including one that weekend. Then we paddled our way down to the Gatekeeper's area aka the only Dam on Lake Tahoe and once again Luke shared the rich history of Lake Tahoe as we glided further down and took in the glorious, breathtaking views all around and the perfect weather that Tahoe always affords us. We learned about D.L. Bliss and not just that it's a beautiful park in Tahoe, the Cal Neva from days gone by with Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, Marilyn Monroe and the infamous tunnels, the Flume trail, and soooo much more that as we floated in the serenity of beautiful Lake Tahoe the day disappeared. The laughter, smiles and looks on everyone's faces of relaxation and peacefulness while enjoying the journey our tour guides were taking us on. Heck, we were becoming rejuvenated in nature while exercising and not even realizing it. We paused in open water to watch the day slip away and had a chance to snap off a few photographs and I watched as even Luke graciously paddled around to take some. We wrapped up the tour by heading back where we started with continued history and taking in the beautiful, breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe.

This is a definite MUST if you ever have a chance and I will most definitely be partaking in a tour of Emerald Bay and Sand Harbor. I would also like to give a shout out to my friend for suggesting this and only wish that our schedules would have permitted all of us to enjoy this amazing experience together. ENJOY!
